Oktoberfest Around The World

At other times we’ve talked about the Oktoberfest in Munich, and we know that is repeated in other German cities. Fuengirola also holds its own Oktoberfest.
What about the rest of the world?
We know that the Oktoberfest was born in 1810 in Munich to commemorate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig (who was later Ludwig I of Bavaria) to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen.
I remember far from Don Ludwig, in many parts of the world held tribute to beer festivals.
In Brazil and Argentina, perhaps by the strong presence of German immigration, the Oktoberfest is very popular and serves as a prologue to the spring-summer holiday season.
Furthermore, the Oktoberfest is present in places as diverse as Australia, Canada, Chile, Italy, Mexico, Colombia and Hong Kong.
The largest Oktoberfest in the United States takes place in Cincinnati (Ohio) and is also very popular Leavenworth, about two hours from Seattle (Washington).
In Brazil, we find many cities in which part of the celebration beer: Blumenau (perhaps the largest), Santa Cruz do Sul, Igrejinha, Pinta or Rolândia Grossa, among others.
Canada is not far behind and celebrates their own Oktoberfest in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. A 9-day festival starting on Friday before Thanksgiving Day.
In Chile it is called “Bierfest” and the most popular are those held in Valdivia and Llanquihue, which takes place in January.
Wherever there is a German Oktoberfest there. Even in Vietnam! And since 1992 is also celebrated in Hong Kong.
Ireland could not stay off the beer festival, there is in Dublin, at the headquarters of the University with setting and theme attractions.
If you will be in Mexico, and like the multitudinous festivals and somewhat uncontrolled, check out the Oktoberfest in Cuernavaca.
And what can you do in Peru, the Philippines and Australia.
Prepare your mind (and your liver) because wherever you are, you’ll have a beer festival at hand. Salut !
